Trimtec Systems designed this life size 3D Prototype of a racing car.
Custom 3D Design Projects:
Whether creating or modifying an existing product, 3D Prototype Design can greatly reduce your research and development time as well as money you might spend on other prototyping methods. Correct mistakes throughout the evolution of your product easily, prior to costly tooling and manufacturing.
Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) foam makes a good choice for prototypes cause it can be used to create 3 dimensional shapes, and can be cut with a standard saw, hot knife or hot wire tool, which subtracts away the foam that is not needed. The cutout pieces that, when put together, create any shape needed - the possibilities are endless with EPS foam.
Another reason EPS is preferred over other prototype alternatives, such as metals or wood, is because it is so lightweight. EPS foam is comprised of over 95% air.
Once coated, Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) becomes a sturdy material that you can reuse.
Using Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) foam has several advantages:
When you paint on EPS foam, this is very important - NO OIL BASED PAINT TOUCHING ON THE FOAM!!! It will disintegrates the foam. Water based or latex paint ONLY should be use directly on the foam. If you want to use spray paint you MUST put a coat of latex underneath.
Don't see what you need? Through the use of CAD design and engineered computer cut construction techniques, we are able to produce virtually any design or style of prototypes using Expanded Polystyrene (EPS).
